Before either of those, try just hold the drive in your hand and giving a
good hard twist with your wrist. You could also tap it along it's edge
against your desktop.

By the way, when you put your drive in the freezer, make sure it is seeled
in an airtight bag with as little air inside as possible. The anti-static
bags work pretty well, if you close them tight and tape the edges up. Also,
you can keep the drive cool while it's running by spraying something like
compressed air along the top surface. This will increase the chances of
copying your data intact from an otherwise dead drive.
