and you shouldn't draw more than 500 milliamps total from any one adb
port on the machine.  some of them do have a fuse, but it's a self
resetting fuse (self resetting many, many times, as long as you don't
short it outright or something creative, although a brief accidental
short probably wouldn't hurt it, but it will make your machine reboot).
