I've used it several times - it works great.
You don't need to bother with the AppleScript (in fact, I *wouldn't* dump your HD to the FW disk directly... only copy the folders you need... don't copy all the invisible files). The quickest way (& reliable) to back-up your disk will be to copy your "System Folder", "Applications (OS 9)" and "Documents" folders to the FW disk. Also, back-up your "Users" folder. Copy any useful OS X apps out of the "Applications" folder, and any other OS 9 related folders on root to the FW disk. Make sure you copy all files on the Desktop to your FW disk too. You don't need to copy "System" or "Library" folders to the disk. But, you can also safely do a full "dump" of your HD onto the FW and copy back only the folders you need. Once you have the "System Folder", "Applications (OS 9)", "Documents" (if you use Documents), "Users", and any other folders you created on the FW disk you can safely reformat the HD and copy back the System Folder, App (OS 9), Documents and any of your own folders. If you want, you can copy the Users folder back directly, but I wouldn't recommend this -- it's better to start fresh with all the settings. Install OS X, upgrade to the most recent version, and then copy the files from the Users folder on the FW disk back to your new user home account.
