I did that, then added back the other RAM. There was one particular stick that seemed to cause the problem. If I leave it out, the others pass the RAM test for over 3000 passes. There was an interesting development while I was fooling around with this. At one point the computer began refusing to shut down or restart, except by using the 3 finger restart. This occurred even with only the single new piece of RAM installed. I ended up installing a new system folder and that cured the problem. Apparently something corrupted the system during the hardware experimentation.
