Are you behind a router or firewall? needing an ip like 10.0.0.x or 
192.168.0.x? If so that is the problem.

What is happening is Sendmail (or whatever program your ISP is using) 
is trying to resolve your 'ghosted' IP address into a domain name and 
failing. Your ISP should be able to fix this with an updated DNS 
record.
