>From what I understand and what I remember, the little thingy is
supposed to stay attached on the front of the case. I don't think there
is a metal spring that helps it stay in place, but I think there is a
plastic "substitute" for a spring, more like two prongs that can
maintain a tension (it is very hard to describe it!). Try pushing the
case as far in as it will go when you close the case of the computer.
This may help it stay in place.
