AFAIK, this works only on *true* Open Firmware machines, which would include 
the B&W G3s and later machines *and* the Apple Network Server (ANS; which 
actually precedes the Beiges by quite a number of years.

IIRC, the ANS works only in Open Firmware mode, and can't run the MacOS.
