I've got a bunch of ARA scripts from other sources someone passed to me. I found one that worked (from "Sirius Technology" originally) with my Practical 56k (out of business now, so no support). It went from about 40k to 50667 fairly reliably. If you want I can send these to you and you can try your luck. >I've always used FreePPP, and still do in OS 9.x, but I can't seem to >get a good speed in OS X no matter which script in the list I use, >FreePP does its autodetect thing in OS 9.x and I get a consistent >5-6KB/s but with remote access it jumps up and down and rarely goes >over 4KB/s. Does anyone have a script they'd be willing to share, or >know where I can get one. Does FreePPP just have a modem init string? If you have one that works well, you can try the "Apple Modem Script Generator", free on apple.com. You can use that to generate a new ARA script using your init string. Apple doesn't seem to have bothered much with updating their scripts since they first released them, there are very few 56k ones. They probably think modems are like floppy disks, obsolete and not worth their time dealing with. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
