Check the Drive Compatability Database @ xlr8yourmac. I was there yesterday checking reports for the WD 80, 100 and 120 GB WDs w/8 MB cache. I remember seeing reports there with failures to install OS X and other problems if the WD HD was connected to the IDE mobo controller on a B&W G3.
