Personally, I would not get a wireless router just to avoid running the
cable.  And if I got a wireless router, I would make sure I learn the
technical solutions to ensure security of the traffic going over the air, or
I would get someone who knows how to set it up for me.  There are many true
stories about the ease of folks cruising the streets with laptops and gear
to listen in and capture the traffic on wireless networks.  In the end, I
would not trust the security safeguards for wireless networks as much as a
basic category 5 (or better) cable.

If you have requirements that at least one computer in the network be mobile
about the house, then Apple's own Airport is one option, also Asante and
Macsense.
