It's just an expression I use. It's not really a burned out port. I just mean it no longer works. In my case any device plugged into the firewire ports on the motherboard no longer work. But after putting in a Firewire PCI card, the device will start working. Hence my expression burned out.

Just curious, how do you end up with burned out FiWi ports?
I really doubt you could burn out a FW port without using bus-powered
devices. Anything that has it's own power supply should not kill the port.
