Correct.

The Beige G3 (all versions) will not recognize one-half of the RAM on a
single-sided SDRAM stick which has only eight chips.

In these cases, the stick is accepted as one which has one-half of the total
RAM which is programmed into the EPROM.

As usual, the Beige G3s require "unbuffered with EPROM" sticks. And, the
Beige G3 is *supposed to* interrogate the EPROM in order to determine the
size of each stick.

But, this interrogation fails for any stick which is manufactured as a "half
populated" stick with high-density chips.

The flaw appears to be in the Power On System Test code of the Beige G3.

These sticks will be correctly interrogated by a PC, however.
