I had some problems with cd drive recognition (though mine was and IDE) when
I upgraded, too. I took the old (the one that worked) apple cd/dvd driver
and put it back into the extensions folder. I took the 9.2.2 driver and
moved it to the extensions disabled folder. If 9.1 worked fine for you, use
that. 8.6 works, too. I found the old driver using TomeExtractor. HTH
