I agree. That's why I included some low/no cost solution possibilities as well. I know my local AASP would print me pages of a manual if I asked him, as we have a good working relationship. In this case I am also a buyer of a bootleg tech manuals CD off eBay as well. I did not think that $10.00 plus $3.75 postage was an unreasonable cost of owning a computer.

I have no hesitation about opening one of our older computers for most things. However, if the job is technically beyond what I am comfortable with or requires special tools, I call my local AASP. Unfortunately for him, Apple's are kind of like Maytag's. There's not a lot of breakdowns there.

That still doesn't change my situation of not endorsing ways to deprive someone else of their livelihood. Just my 2¢ worth.
