I'm told that the beige/platinum G3s' serial ports don't support the
Geoport Telecom Adapter. Does anyone know if the modem slot on the
personality catrd supports the internal Geoport modem card (such as I find
in my 6500)? It's hard to find clear advice on this matter on Apple's
pages. It appears that most (all?) of the G3's that had internal modems
had Global Village 1s.
I have an 8.1 install CD that's specifically for the beige G3, in that the
main installer app won't install anything on my 6500 (but the OS installer
way up inside the folder hierarchy will). It has a "CD Extras" folder as
well, with the "Apple Telecom" 3.1 software for Express & Geoport modems in
it...you would think that if the G3 doesn't support it that Apple wouldn't
have included it, would you?
