Thanks for your reply, I was getting desperate. You are right about the controller program. But now I seem to have discovered that I cannot boot from a MacOS 10 CDs at all. So I reinstalled my G3 and stripped my machine down to stock. I still could not boot from a MacOS 10 CD (I have several different CDs from 10.0 -10.2). This is on a machine that I installed MacOS 10.2.4 and it has been running for months. I have done every thing you can think of (all sorts of techniques for clearing PRAM). When I set the CD as startup it just won't boot. EVery thing on 9 works fine all the 9 cds boot. I have reinitialized my hard disk with apple's latest. This is not a problem of installing MacOS 10. I even swapped out another CD drive and still no avail. I am getting ready to pull the battery and do that thing. Maybe that will work?????????
This must be a very rare problem. You are the only one to respond. Thanks, your response at least makes me feel better.
Having been researching this myself I believe you have to down load a controller program to work with OS X and or frimware glitches-- it might be a freebie or in one case they wanted $30 and I suspect this was the Sonnet Folks . Do a Goggle search on "OSX + Encore+ ZIF" and you should find the details. Regards, E Jones
