There's been a thread called "Audio Software" going for a couple of days now. It's recently turned into a ProTools / Deck conversation, but IIRC it started life as a "does anyone know a good sound editor for X?" kind of thing. From where I sit this one looked like a response to that, but I've been wrong before.
