/233s were almost always Rev. 1A; early /266s were almost always Rev. 2B; late /266s were almost always Rev. 3C; /300s and faster were almost always Rev. 3C. The associated ROM levels, which can be seen using ASP, are: 1) Rev. A ... $77D.40F2, 2) Rev. B ... $77D.45F1, and 3) Rev. C ... $77D.45F2. Mobos can be identified as: 4) Rev. 1 ... Rage + DVD video chip, 5) Rev. 2 ... Rage Pro video chip, and 6) Rev. 3 ... Rage Pro Turbo video chip. It is not possible to tell "mixed" configurations (Rev. 1B or 1C, or Rev. 3A, for example) without a physical examination. Apple did not manufacture any of these "mixed" configurations, and their service providers were prohibited from making any after the fact, although some were made. Obviously, many end users made "mixed" configurations. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
