I believe that Data Rescue is what you want. It was previously shareware. Now it is Demo-ware. Although I have never used it, it is widely regarded as one of the best, perhaps the best.
Remember that it is important for the client to immediately stop using the computer.

Anyone have a good file recovery utility? I just had a client call (10:30pm) saying he'd just deleted several thousand image files that he needs for his next deadline. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any background utils checking his trash (ie Techtool or DW), so it would need to be something that can just scan the disk. I know Norton can do this, but it usually just turns up a bunch of garbage without the Filesaver turned on. I assume TTP would do the same. And yes, no backups.
