Could be, but if the installation finished w/o errors (except for booting into OS X), than it looks like that that CD works with you Mac. But I would strongely suggest you to buy a retail copy of Jaguar just to be sure anyhow. > 6. Yes this is what I would do if I were you. Or buy a Firewire enclosure and an IDE HD and install and boot OS X from it. You can then use this enclosure for backup purposes in the future to avoid the problems you are having now. > B. Well yes if installing a new HD with or w/o a Firewire enclosure with OS X doesn't help I suggest you take it to a repair shop as a last resort.
