I just had a lot of trouble with OS X in my Beige G3 333 MHZ tower. OS X likes to do something to the system pram.
It got to the point that I could not boot up the computer! I took out the pram battery for a little while and than I started up the computer and it booted up right away.
Are you getting a strange Open Firmware message on the screen about unable to find something?
I had that problem on a Beige G3 (G3/300 MT) that wouldn't resolve until I removed the master/slave jumper from the hard drive (It's the only device on that bus). After that it booted perfectly.
