Can you elaborate on this?

I'm not the poster of this warning, but having just had to check the voltage regulator module (VRM) in my DT Beige, before installing a G4 zif, I have some information.

From the instructions for installing a Sonnet processor upgrade:

"A few early-production Beige desktop and mini-tower computers were manufactured with a ROYAL TECHNOLOGY VRM that is incompatible with processor upgrade cards and could potentially damage them."
"The VRM is located in the slot next to the system battery on the motherboard. (there's a picture) Because most VRMs look similar you must remove and visually inspect it.If the words: ROYAL TECHNOLOGY are printed on it, contact Creative Connections (www.ccidomain.com/mac/vrm-ultra/index.htm or call on 1-770-476-7322 for a replacement.

"If your VRM has Raython; Switch Power, or Fairchild printed on it, you have a good VRM."
