John, with great victory, announced: > From: John Slavin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Beige G3 upgrade-SUCCESS! > > Well, I finally got my Beige Tower upgraded to Jaguar. Apparently, not > all upgrade CDs are alike. etc... etc.....
> Has any else had any experience with this? > > John Slavin It sure pays to know Apple's roll-out schedule, when new models come out sooner than OS updates or vs. a vs. I'm not as sure about OS X (I bet this also applies), but in ALL of the classic OSs, when a newly-introduced model needed to use an older OS (like the Power Macs!), an enabler of sort was inevitably involved. My good friend kept calling me about trying to get his iMac to install OS 9.2.1, telling me the disc just refused to get recognized. After speculating about CD drive going bad, PRAM, peripherals connected, it dawned on me: "you're not trying to use the 9.2.1 disk that came with your G4, are you?" Yep, he sure was. Providing him with a reatil CD of the same fixed everything. Your summary is corredt, John - not all install disks are alike.
