I run 10.2.x on a B/W G3 450. Love it. Wouldn't trade it for 9.x.

Are the iMac disks OS 9 or X? Usually the 9 discs are specific for the type of machine they are shipped with. X is universal. You'll find out as soon as you attempt the install. If it won't work, it will tell you in no uncertain terms that it's not designed for that machine.
