Can't the same thing be done in the Sites folder? I usually just dump HTML and/or plain pics in my Sites folder and it will show up when URL is typed in... For example:

http://homepage.mac.com/gaschu/IMG_0010.jpg

or even a sound file:

http://homepage.mac.com/gaschu/drew.mp3
