I remember having trouble with versions I tried patching myself. It is possible that your Rage 128 won't work with the Apple player as it seems to require the Rage 128 Pro. I'm not sure if that is a more powerful board. In any case, I doubt that pulling the decoder card will help. On my machine I have a DVD personality card that is entirely useless. I can run the hacked Player 2.2 on my Radeon 7000. I also can view DVDs in os X using the standard X player that does not need to be hacked.
