I have a ca. 1999 bondi G3 (rev 2?) imac that has been working well
up until a week ago. A few days ago the screen started flickering
and a day later it made a bad zapping noise during start up and the
computer went dead- nothing happens when i try to boot up- the power
bar is working, but the computer is completely dead- no noise -no
light nothing. I am writing a thesis and this is a critical time for
me, I know the data is still on the hard drive but someone said i
might need a new analog board. It will cost about 200$ to replace
and if that doesn't work they said maybe a new logic board or power
supply. It all sounds quite expensive. Is it worth it to even start
by replacing the analog thing? or should i get a new machine and have
the hard drive installed in it? as you may be able to tell i know
little about computers
any advice would help
thanks
sarah
