In regards to firewire, practically any firewire PCI card will do. I picked
one up from my local PC shop for about $29 CDN (3 port) and it works great
in my PM 9500. Since you're using 9.2.2 just pop it into a free PCI slot
and you're ready to go.

In terms of USB cards make sure you get a card that is OHCI compliant (open
host controller -I forgot what the "I" stood for). The other type of USB
card is EHCI and apparently these will NOT work in any Mac. Also in order
for the USB to work you'll need to download the "driver/patch" from Apple
that will allow a USB card to work properly in a Mac. I believe the latest
version was 1.4.1. Here's the link:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=31132

Now I'm referring to USB 1.1 NOT version 2.0. USB 2 is only supported in
OSX and above. 9.2.2 doesn't support it. In fact when I boot into 9.2.2 on
my B&W I get a message saying that a USB port is drawing too much power and
will need to be shut down. Since you are using OS 9.2.2 you'll want to
stick with USB 1.1. Keep this in mind if you are thinking of getting a
USB/Firewire combo card. The new combo cards out there will usually have
USB 2 ports. In my own experience it seems to be getting harder to find USB
1/firewire combo cards. However you mentioned you have 2 PCI slots
available so get a USB 1.1 card and a separate firewire card. If you are
thinking of using OS X you will NOT need the "driver/patch" from Apple for
the USB card. Good luck.
