Yes, quite a bit of benefit actually. A fully supported video card speeds up Beige systems a lot.
On Classic Mac OS [7.0-9.2.2]:
Not generally, but here it depends more on what programs you use. In terms of general speed increase in the Finder and such, no. In terms of gaming or photo work, yes.
