Easy way is to get a Radeon Mac edition or Radeon 7000 and replace the Rage
with it. The Radeons have the DVD decoding on the card.

Second option is to try and find the RARE (read expensive) DVD decoder that
Apple had as an option on the AV card in your beige. This does not use a
pci slot.

Third option is to find the rare Wired4DVD card, but this uses a pci slot.

The Radeon option works fine for me, both in 9 and X. I am currently using
the pci extreme hack to enable quartz extreme on my beige (G4 533, 10.2.8,
Radeon 7000, Toshiba 8x8x8x24 DVD/CDRW combo drive) and DVD playback is not
as good as without the hack, but we are talking dropping a few frames per
minute, so I can live with it.

You may need to hack Apple's DVD player depending on the DVD Rom you have.
Or you can use one of the free players out there if you are using OSX-
VideoLan/VLC player or mPlayer.

HTH and sorry about the bad news on the Rage card,
Len
