Will this work in 10.2.8?
If you had this problem in 10.2.8, I suppose, but I'm fairly certain it's a side effect of gimp-print being included in the official distribution and some of the behavior changing, so it's not needed.
Under 10.2 gimp-print wasn't official, so you would simply re-install GP and add the printer the way you did it before.
This workaround should *only* be necessary if you a) installed Gimp Print to add a non-supported printer, and b) the printer you're using isn't in the default set that ships with gimp print.
I do not know yet what changes were made to gimp print's behavior by Apple rolling it into Printer Utility yet. For example there was a web-based method to configure printers with CUPS and Gimp-print (it's in the official CUPS documentation at <http://www.cups.org/> which does work under OSX, 10.2, at least.
I haven't got a system I can install 10.3 on, yet (my personal system is an upgraded Beige, and XPostFacto 3.0 is still in alpha, so I'm not doing this to my only computer) so my experience is coming from supporting it on other's systems.
