On Beige G3's, if you are using IDE drives, OS X has to go in the first partition of the drive it's installed on, and that partition needs to be < 8 GB. I had to partition mine to 7.9 GB on setup, 7.99 doesn't work, the installer still gave me an error.

This isn't that big of a hassle if you follow the directions at <http://www.bombich.com> on moving your Users directory to another partition leaving your boot partition for the System only. I've got a bunch of programs, including the Developers tools, on my Beige DT, yet my boot drive is still over half empty.

My User directory, otoh, is many gigs in size...

9.2 doesn't *have* to be on that partition, mine isn't, but even so, it's only 340 megs, about 5% of the total disk space.

one thing you can do with two disks is have a separate, 'stock' OS 9 folder for use in the Classic environment in OS X, and a 'Boot into 9' folder with your full panoply of extensions, if needed. That said, I haven't needed for a very long time. 10.2 is a really stable OS, and nothing I ever used in OS 9 didn't work in Classic. I haven't booted my system in OS 9 to use OS 9 in months and months.

Anyone know where I could get the Jaguar CD reasonably?

OWC <http://www.macsales.com> has had it reasonably cheaply.
