found out meanwhile that in OSX the drive is seen on the desktop without
formatting it.,
later I formatted that drive in OS 9.1 and it shows now also, have a 13 gig
drive with all my work on it, I don't want to format, is there no other way to
get this drive going with the card in OS 9.1?

Franz

YES! There is a way to do this. (not for free unfortunatly)

Hard Disk Speed Tools v3.5 from <http://wwwintechusa.com/> will "take over" a drive
and make it usable without haveing to reformat.

You must connect the drive to that Acard and then restart your Mac, Open up HDST and it will search for available drives. If you select the drive that you now have attached to the Acard it will tell you that it does not have the correct driver loaded and ask if you want HDST to "take over" the drive.
You click yes and then let the software go to work. Depending on the amount of free space on the drive and wich utility was originally used to format it, it could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours for this operation to complete. Once the driver has been replaced a restart should put the drive on your desktop just as it was before you moved it to the Acard!

I have done this succesfully with more than a dozen drives on various Macs without any data loss whatsoever.
