I installed the Sonnet Trio (ATA133/Firewire/USB 2.0) PCI card into my G3 466 (clocked up) Beige MT 768 RAM from OWC 9G Ultra SCSI (boot disk) 10.2.8/9.2.2 (7.5G/1.5G) run by an Atto Ultra Scsi PCI ATI 7000 (saphire ROM'd from Winbloze to Mac) 64MB PCI floppt and CD-ROM. I cannot get the ATA portion of the card to be recognized (in either 9/X). I have removed all PCI cards, replacing each one at a time, saving the Trio for last, and have been able to boot into 9; (this is because everytime I make an adjustment I CUDA, and re-zap PRAM x10) which resets the startup drive to the default setting (OS 9),
then I reset the startup disc using the Control Panel, and it freezes after restart (Mac Chord, about 1-3 secs worth of HD spin noise, and then black screen!). Then, I have to remove the Trio card (and re-Cuda/re-PRAM x10) which allows me to reboot into 9 again. Trying to resolve all potential conflicts, I upgraded the ATI drivers, and was able to have it boot into 9 WITH the Trio installed! At this point, ASP only identified the USB and Firewire portions of the card. It did NOT recognize the 'New' SCSI/ATA bus, or the attached 160G Seagate HD (THE reason I want the ATA 133!). I opened Drive Set-up, and it also failed to recognize the card/HD. I had attempted to identify if it was a PCI card combination issue (remove all cards, replace 1 card by itself, and then with the Trio) but it happens with every card when I added the TRIO. It also happens when I remove all PCI's except the Trio. In other words; whenever the TRIO is plugged in it crash/freeze's, or boots into 9, but will be un-recognized by either Disk Set-up or ASP. I am really wanting to make this work (or is that not yet apparent?) ; - ) Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I'll even go as far as to state my 'VERY OWN' opinion in the 'Great (OT) OS 10.2.8 Filibuster of November '03': "Are they Sycophants or is the Apple Jug Really Half Full?". I will need 12 hours advanced warning to properly (de-) medicate (Sorry List Nanny...I have a sick side for a sense of humor....). Jim -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
