If you find it useful in preX, then that is probably where you'll need to use it. I do a lot of video work, using the DV format and the firewire port. I often need to switch between 9 and x for various tools. Not classic, 9. So it goes. There are a number of ways to get video into your computer without using the a/v card. There are supposed to be some reasonable usb solutions where video is compressed before being sent to the computer. Might be worth a look.
