2 cleaning tips you could try.

1. Remove the cartridges and rub both the contacts on the mount and on the
cartridge. There may be oxidation on either. Use a soft cloth and if you
wish denatured alcohol.

2. Remove the color cartridge from the printer. Remove both ink tanks from
the holder. Hold the print head under warm running water until the water
runs clear. Make sure you get water on the bottom where the ink comes out
and on the nipples that protrude into the ink tanks. Dry thoroughly. Gently
rub the bottom where the ink sprays from with a wet paper towel. You'll
notice a large ink blob slowly dissolve.

Don't be afraid to get the print head wet. I'm still using the same print
head that came with my CSW2400 and I've cleaned it that way about once a
year since new. I also refill the tanks with generic refill ink.

Despite being new the black in tank/print head may need a cleaning also.
Especially if you bought the Apple brand instead of the Cannon model. Both
are the same but the Cannon refills sell faster and are probably newer.

Either print a document or launch "PrintMonitor" directly. Under options you
will see an option for cleaning the printer. You may have to run it a few
times to get a perfect print.
