After it rebooted, the dialogue box came up on the screen & indicated the system hadn't been shut down properly so it began to run Disk First Aid. Just about half way through the scan, an Error Message appeared in the dialogue box and it immediately stopped running Disk First Aid.
Instead it said: "Error: And error has been detected on your boot disk and Disk First is unable to repair it. Please back up your drive immediately. Restart your machine and go to the Help Page in the Macintosh OS for for more information about running Disk First Aid".
