A Mac is: That hardware and software system which took a few features from Zerox and which in turn was copied by Bill Gates who put a Windows veneer on DOS. Through some quirk of injustice, the courts ruled against Apple and in favor of bad Bill. That hardware and software system which traditionally does the best job for graphics designers and desktop publishing. That hardware system which now thrives on the best available processor chips for microcomputers from Motorola and IBM. That software system which now thrives on its UNIX foundation, UNIX being the software which far outperforms the underlying kluge of software in Microsoft Windows. With OS X, Apple successfully replaced its old Macintosh System which originated in 1984. Microsoft is still struggling mightily to patch the patches on its original structure called DOS. The Microsoft Windows software architecture ignored reasonable security specifications; Bill Gates continues to husband a fundamentally flawed software architecture.
