I have had this same problem with my beige. I have changed batteries and done the disconnect battery and hit reset button thing with no change. The only solution that I have found is to NOT turn off the power strip. For years I turned off the power strip with no problems. It seems to be the situation started when I went to OS 9, and has continued through OS X.

Recently, when starting up my Beige, it booted into my OS9 partition, instead of OSX (default setting and when it came to the desktop, I got the standard "Date and Time is wrong" message. Figuring it was the battery, I replaced it, thinking that this would solve my problem.

However........

All of my system is plugged into a powerstrip, that I would turn off, once I shut the machine off. Now, if I turn off the powerstrip, it loses all of its settings. All of these years I thought that the battery was there in case of no power. Was I mistaken?

Everything works fine if I leave the powerbar on, so does this look like a battery terminal problem or some other type of problem?

Thank You
