Moving user files

I am using OS X (10.2.8) on a beige MT in the first 8 GB partition of 
an 80 GB HD. What is the best/safest way to move my user files into the 
another partition where I have more space? My 8 GB partition is 
starting to fill up with pictures and programs, etc. Everything is 
working nicely now, and I don't want to screw it up :-)
