Hi all;
My son has a G3 266 G3 DT running OS 8.6. The other night he went to bed,
left the G# running with the screen saver (Darkside of the Mac) running.
The next morning the Mac was off. He booted it up and the video was all
messed up. Looks like a kazillion menu bars all over the screen.
I tried 2 other monitors, zapped the PRAM 10 times, booted from CD and
emergency Zip disk. No change.
What does this sound like to you guys? Any and all replies greatly
appreciated.
Hmmm...why was it off?
Possibly a loose or bad VRAM chip. Reseat the VRAM.
Next step: yank the PRAM battery overnight. Press CUDA switch several times, re-insert PRAM battery, reboot.
