What you are experiencing is exactly the reason why I discourage folks from using email programs in Classic mode. It's been my general "delight" to notice a variety of "idiosyncrasies" with Classic mode. The first is your situation. A network application that can't find a network connection. The second is a Classic app that can't find a port (usb, firewire, etc.).

I have found the best way to deal with this is to boot the Mac into OS 9 and setup what you need in the app you're using. Then boot back to X and try the app in classic mode again. This was an especially serious problem for me using Office 2001. I attempted to print from X and it would not do it. I had to boot to 9 and use the chooser to setup a printer. Only then would it print from Classic. Hope this helps.

I installed MS Outlook Express 5 in my Classic disk to use for another email account I have, but it doesn't seem to connect, I have DSL connection, I think that that's not the only Classic program I can't connect online with my basic PPPoE connection or does this happen with ANY connection under OS X? Is there a fix or do I have to live with it? I appreciate the help.
