We have an Apple Color StyleWriter 1500. The last 3-4
cartridges we've used in it have been Canon BC-02 (black
ink) cartridges. We'd been told this printer was made by
Canon and the BC-02 was interchangeable (and the store no
longer carried the StyleWriter 1500 cartridges).

We're having a problem with the print quality of the latest
cartridge. There are white lines through the letters on
the printed page, and shadows to the right of the letters,
as if the ink had been smudged.

I noticed that the orange plastic piece that is supposed to
be removed from the cartridge before it is inserted has a
piece of foam on it which I've never really noticed before.
It's stuck quite securely to the plastic piece. What are
the chances that this is part of the cartridge and that it
merely adhered to the plastic piece on accident? I've
never noticed this piece of foam before, either on a
cartridge or on the plastic piece.

I can't refer to the old cartridge, because we've already
thrown it away. I can't find a picture on the web, to
reference. Also, can't find any websites that address the
problem.

Have found a website that says that the Canon cartridge has
fewer inkjets than the Apple, and so it gets plugged up.
 Could that be it?

Answers off- or on-list would be fine. If on-list, please
also cc me directly, as I have digest.

TIA,

Janice
