Dan,

If you are trying to burn a video DVD, not just a data DVD, why don't you just let iDVD do it? Read the docs for how to use iDVD.

I'm writing in os9 at the moment so I can't give you exact instructions for iMovie 3 and iDVD 3.

Basically, you EXPORT your video from iMovie in a format iDVD recognizes. Use the
EXPORT menu item, it will tell you which format to use for iDVD. In some versions it
will actually run iDVD and load the file into it for you. If not drag the files onto
an iDVD project window. Ths represents the DVD menu that will appear on your tv
screen. There are a million fun ways (styles) to set this menu up. Read the help
files.

iDVD will encode the files and burn the DVD for you. This may take hours but you can
check the progress in the status menu. You can choose burn before the movies are
compressed, or while they are being compressed. It will finish the encoding job if
necessary, then burn the DVD. That's really all there is to it. You don't need any
temporary partitions or anything. Your 120 gig drive is plenty big enough unless you
are working on a lot of video projects at one time.

Use Toast only to burn data DVDs or to copy finished video DVDs.

Ok, I'm a blonde! I open iMovie and EXPORT my project to iDVD, in iDVD, I set the preferences to NTSC and then I set to "automatically create chapter marker submenu". The I click "Create iDVD project" and go to sleep and PRESTO! In the morning I awake to a brand new DVD.

Riiiigggghhhhhtttttt!
