I have the same problem with an old G3/233/DT rev 1 (13gig Maxtor IDE, 256 mb); it works fine with 9.1 but does pretty much what you describe when I've tried to install 9.2 - the blank dialog box and a freeze during start-up.
Other than that, machine works fine (as network mail/fax server). I've thought about upgrading to a rev. 2 ROM to see if it cures this glitch and for IDE slave support but have never gotten around to it. I'm pretty sure it's a Mobo/hardware issue, since all the other G3 Beige machines I've owned were rev.2 or 3 and ran 9.2.2 just fine. > > Hello Everyone, > > > > I'm unable to boot up from System 9.2 on a Beige G3/233 DT with Rev A ROMs and a rev 1 logic board. > > The machine has an original Apple CD-drive, 320 MB RAM, 2 MB VRAM, and an 8 Gig Maxtor HD from a junked PC. > > > > It works just fine with system 8.5 and 9.0.4.
