So I recently got an older G4 (400 mhz AGP). I also bought 10.2.4 install disks--originally from an iBook--that are supposed to install on any supported machine. It seems like maybe there's something wrong with the install disks--I can't boot from them. When I try to do so, I get the Open Firmware screen.

I'm pretty sure it's the disk and not the machine because it does the same thing when I use my existing G4 (same thing--400mHz AGP).

Any ideas? Am I stupid, or is there no other way to install X without starting up from the install CD? (I've tried using startup disk and simply starting up holding down "C" on the keyboard--same results.)

Thanks!

Joe
