According to the sysops it is a networking issue. It's not just Photoshop, because opening folders in list view in the Finder shows the thumbnails of the images with a delay. Also opening and saving Photoshop files isn't as fast as it used to be. About the Netboot, well they created a Netbootimage with the OS + updates + apps pre-installed, then they installed it on every workstation via Netboot so that every user can boot the OS off the HD, but the users folders are stored on the server. That way everyone can use every Mac with it's own user name and password. > The latest 10.3.4 upgrade included OpenGL fixes that have affected > some video cards; also ATI just released an upgraded set of driver, > though I don't know if those have been superceded by 10.3.4. All the workstations are running 10.3.4, didn't know that there were problems with the included OpenGL. I thought the same about that ATI upgrade, but this G4 is running a nVidia GeForce4 MX dual monitor set up, one 21" and one 15" CRT, but that worked fine in OS 9. > Are the Macs HDD's running in Journaled mode? BTW Besides the Photoshop problem even w/o Classic running there's also the Quark-4-in-Classic-issue. We're running Quark 4.1 in Classic, we have 6.x but not that much user licenses and we have to send the Quark 4 docs back to the editors to edit them and they have only Quark 4 so we cannot use Quark 6 anyway. But what I wanted to say is that what really annoys me is that the Quark doesn't always completely redraws the screen while dragging. This is a known issue and there are several extensions for it which supposedly fix it, but they don't. There is a workaround and that is to press Command-Option-. (point), but to do that hundred times a day is not very convenient. * * -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
