I now have 10.2.6 running on my beige G3 DT (266 Mhz - 192 Mb RAM). I've had the machine running solid almost since installing it 3 weeks ago, it has been rock steady. I have the monitor, printer and speakers on a strip and I simply turn those off at night and during the day while I am at work. Each time I simply power up the strip, move the mouse a bit and the screen returns just as I left it. I heard many people on this list testify to the stability of 10.2.6 which is why I decided to try it. I was very frustrated with 10.2.8, due mainly to the various crashes while I had it on my HD. Although many people said that 10.2.6 was more stable, very few, if any, gave opinions as to why 10.2.8 is so crash prone. Seems I do recall someone saying it only occurs on machines with 192 Mb or RAM, but no one said why. Does anyone know the answer to this riddle?

Just a message from Doug...
