Andy >From what I've read the ATI Rage Pro 16MB was the bog standard AGP graphics card that came with the Dual 500MHz Gigabit. Is your DA a 466MHZ by any chance? My DA 533 came with a 32MB GeForce Nvdia card, whereas other 533's have a ATI 32MB Radeon.
Incidentally reviewers of the Dual 500MHz G4 identified the ATI Pro 16MB AGP card as the performance bottleneck in that machine, when used for graphics work. I would not even think about going back to PCI, if you are not happy with your present ATI Rage Pro 16MB AGP, you will find the ATI Nexus PCI will be an even bigger bottleneck, since PCI is far slower than AGP. AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) is dedicated to video cards. I think the Rage Pro was only 2x Acceleration, hence you are not getting the max from your Video. Our DA's support 4x Graphics acceleration so go for a card that does that ie ATI Radeon 7000+, GeForce Nvdia 2etc. Best Regards Pete "To mess up a Mac OS X box, you need to work at it; to mess up your Windows box, you just need to work on it." -----Original Message----- From: G-List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Andy Hannen Sent: Sunday, 13 June 2004 6:18 AM To: G-List Subject: ATI card comparision Which would be the faster/best card to use in my G4 DA, the stock 16MB ATI Rage Pro AGP or an ATI Nexus 32MB PCI?
