G5 dual 1.8 ethernet problem

We have just got a G5 dual 1.8 in the office and transferring files 
over the ethernet network to this computer is taking much longer than 
it did to the G4 it has replaced, does anyone have any ideas as to why 
this may be happening? the network configuration is as the old G4 was.
